North vs South Comes Home!

The North vs South contest has returned back to it's home at Altrincham after being well cared for by Newcastle ACA who have decided to hand the baton back. Newcastle took on the role of contest organiser for the North back in 2003. Altrincham wishes to thank Doug Collender for all his excellent and hard work in running the competition over the past 7 years. The competition now has it's own website which can be found at; www.n-v-s.co.uk Full details of how to enter this year will be appearing shortly on the website. If you want to know what the theme is this year, it is; "Easier Said Than Done!"

Computer Doctor Evening - February 2nd (continued on the 9th)

Clive and Graham tried to assist members with their PC related problems.
Some had problems with viruses while others had problems with installing/uninstalling programs.
Solutions were handed out and I am glad to say for the most part they seem to have worked!
Clive discussed ways in which you could clean up your PC to make it just that little bit faster which is always a good thing when you are editing a film.
He showed short films on the use of;

• CCleaner - removes temporary files and cleans up the Windows registry
• Defraggler - a more efficent and free hard disk defragmenter
• Xirrus - a Wi-Fi analyser to help you solve a slow Wi-fi connection
• SSD (Solid State Drive) - a hard disk without any moving parts and very fast too!
